Alleluja by J.S. Bach, arranged by D. Ippensen, is a very useful ensemble publication for various instrument combinations. The score includes very few phrasing or balance markings; these are up to the director and will depend on the instruments used. The linear writing is rhythmically active, and counting is the primary difficulty in this piece. The work could be a string, brass, or woodwind quartet or quintet if the first part is doubled. When S.A.T.B. saxophone quartets perform the work, the tenor player should play the part an octave higher than written.
