Nursery Nightmare by D. Ippensen was inspired by Agatha Christie's The Mousetrap. This simple string quartet includes variations on nursery tunes, such as "Three Blind Mice" and "London Bridge is Falling Down." The "Dies Irae" sequence from the Roman Catholic liturgy also helps to depict the nightmare. Augmented seconds and tritones dominate as the work moves through major and minor keys.
